Summary
This practical research report was commissioned by the Higher Education Academy and published by the Foundation Degree Forward (fdf). It explores the thereotical underpinning and practical application of the concept `recontextualisation’. The research challenges conventional notions of academic knowledge as context-free and it demonstrates that there are complex processes of ‘re-contextualising’ knowledge through the design and implementation of work-based learning at higher education levels.” (Derek Longhurst). It has been produced to encourage curriculum development teams to draw upon the research and think through, carefully and in depth, the purposes and processes involved in work-based learning.
